Welcome to ETCVFX — my home on the internet.
This is where I share my work, my process, and the tools I've built (or broken) along the way. It's a place for finished shots — but also for notes, experiments, workflows, templates, gizmos, and reviews.
Who I Am
I'm a visual effects artist and a philomath. I've spent years deep in comp and pipeline — balancing art and logic, shot work and scripting, polish and problem-solving.
I won’t pretend to know everything — but I do try to learn something from every shot, every tool, every late-night “what if…”. This blog is where I keep track of that learning — and where I share it, in case someone else finds it useful too.
What You’ll Find
ETCVFX is split between the finished and the functional:
- Reel & Résumé — My recent work and background are always available up top.
- Breakdowns & Shots — Selected projects and case studies from real productions.
- Tools & Templates — Gizmos, scripts, project setups, and reusable elements.
- Tutorials & Notes — How-tos, deep dives, or just things I wish someone told me sooner.
- Reviews & References — Honest thoughts on tools and visual inspiration.
- Footage & Assets — Things you can download, test with, or build from.
Some of it’s polished. Some of it’s in-progress. All of it is shared in the spirit of learning and doing better work.
Why This Exists
The VFX world moves fast, and most of what we learn happens on the job, under pressure, with no time to take notes. But when we do take the time to reflect, document, and share — the whole craft gets better.
This site isn’t just a portfolio. It’s a reference desk, a sketchbook, and a toolkit. It’s where I collect what I’ve learned, what I’m building, and what I’m still trying to figure out.
And more than anything — it’s about sharing. Sharing knowledge, sharing tools, sharing the weird edge cases and time-saving tricks. Not just to show what I know, but to grow what we all know. That includes me.
If you’ve made it this far, I hope you find something here that helps — or sparks an idea — or just saves you from rebuilding the same wheel twice.
